The Grand Prize of €500 was awarded to 11-year-old Leona Ryan who gave a hilarious and expressive performance of an extract from Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes, while the second and third prizes of €300 and €200 respectively went to the lively traditional music group The Badgers and talented solo-singer Rachel Coleman.Leona Ryan is from Hollyford Village and is 11 years old. The Tipperary Excel Board would like to offer a very special word of thanks to the recently formed band of Tipperary Excel Volunteers who assisted the Tipperary Excel Team headed up by Caroline Brahan in hosting this very exciting talent contest. We must at this point take the opportunity to give a special word of thanks to Tipperary Mid West Radio, our media partner, to one of our selection judges and Tipperary Excel Volunteers, namely Maureen Walsh who gave so generously of her time while mentoring many of the performers that performed on stage for the Grand Finale.

Finally we must thank Pat Marnane, technical director for TIPP’S GOT TALENT and board member who made himself, his expertise and technical equipment available to the Tipperary Excel for the last four Sundays. The Tipperary Excel Arts Centre is sincerely grateful for the fantastic support it has received over the past four weeks. Many thanks to all who attended and supported both the acts and the theatre, and we hope to see you again very soon.
