The €50 per head includes entry to race, a Meal and Race Card. There will be a tipster serving all tables. An individual may purchase a seat for €50. To sponsor a race on the night will cost €2,000.00 and sponsors will be guests of the County Board and will present the winning owner with the prize from their sponsored race.  Photograph of same will appear in the local press subsequently. County players will be pr esent at the meeting to meet and greet the punters and divisional boards are being encouraged not to have games fixed on that Friday night.

UNVEILING OF MAURICE DAVIN STATUE

The weather was appropriately fitting for last weekend’s Maurice Davin commemoration events in Carrick-on-Suir. On Saturday, events commenced with a laying of wreaths and blessing at the grave of Maurice Davin in Churchtown Cemetery. The highlight of the weekend was the unveiling of the magnificent Barry Wrafter sculpted statue of Maurice Davin outside Davin Park by Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Liam O’Neill on Saturday afternoon. Later that evening former GAA President, Sean Kelly, opened the Maurice Davin and local clubs memorabilia exhibition at the Carraig Hotel. On Sunday there was a fun run led by three time Olympian and former World 5,000m champion, Eamonn Coughlan and an athletics family fun day.  Great credit is due to the organising committee for doing such excellent work devising and bringing this project to fruition. The result of their work is a highly appropriate and lasting tribute to Maurice Davin’s memory. The committee which was c haired by Bobby Fitzgerald also included Alan Faulkner (a descendant of Maurice Davin), Denis Landy, Sinead Dunne, Dick Lannigan,  Noel Russell, Pat Walsh (grandnephew of Maurice Davin), Sean Nugent and Eoin Kelly.

TIPPERARY CLUBS DRAW

The first draw for the 2013/14 Tipperary Clubs Draw took place on Friday night last at the Templemore Arms hotel. This year a big effort was made to sell draw membership abroad and the first prize of a Skoda Octavia or €15,000 went to New York with St. Raymonds Gaelic Football Club winning. The ticket was sold by former Roscrea and Tipperary hurler, Brendan Maher. Second prize of a Skoda Fabia or €10,000 went to Deirdre Lowney of St. Patrick Terrace Nenagh with this ticket sold by the Nenagh Eire Og club. Over 20 other prizes of €500 and €200 were also won on the night.
