NEW YORK FUNDRAISING

Tipperary GAA County Board is hosting a Fundraising Gathering at Gaelic Park, New York on Saturday April 6 at 7pm. (See www.tipperary.gaa.ie, Facebook and Twitter for more details). It’s an open invitation to all Tipperary supporters living in New York who are interested in providing financial support for the development of Gaelic Games in Tipperary. We would ask Tipperary people with friends or family in New York to notify them of our function in Gaelic Park and ask them to attend if possible. We are delighted that Eamon O’Shea, Manager of the Tipperary Senior Hurling team will be our guest speaker at the event. Our primary purpose for the New York event is to raise funds for our Centre of Excellence at Dr. Morris Park, Thurles which is essential to our plans to have continued success for our inter-county teams. We plan to develop and enhance the existing facilities at Dr. Morris Park to provide Tipperary GAA with best in class training and preparation facilities for all our inter-county teams and underage development squads. Being successful at hurling and football on the inter-county stage requires top class facilities and coaches. We are committed to developing our infrastructure and people to ensure that Tipperary will remain as the Premier county in Gaelic Games. To achieve our aims, we need the financial assistance of our many loyal supporters at home and abroad and this event is part of an initiative to win support from Tipperary people the world over.

SAVE ON ENERGY COSTS

The Federation of Irish Sport has teamed up with Future Fit in a programme sponsored by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (“SEAI”) which is designed to increase energy efficiency of sports clubs thereby reducing operating costs. It is estimated that clubs could save up to €3,000 a year through energy efficiency. This could amount to cost savings of in excess of €10 million across sports clubs in Ireland as a whole. Indeed, research from the SEAI would indicate that savings of 10-20% could be made by many sports clubs through behavioural and/or low cost changes. The programme entitled “Energy Fit” is being run on a pilot basis initially and is entirely FREE for eligible clubs. All clusts have been sent a brochure which sets out criteria for inclusion in the programme and details of how to get involved. It is intended that participation in the programme will not only help improve the financial standing of sports clubs at a time of unprecedented economic challenge but also enhance the environmental footprint of sports for the benefit of this and future generations. You can go to the following website link for more information on this initiative: http://irishsport.ie/wpress/index.php/2013/03/energyfit-a-pilot-program-to-help-sports-facilities-reduce-their-costs-through-energy-efficiency/
