Well done to the Tipperary senior hurling team on defeating Waterford by 0-31 to 2-15 in round 3 of the Allianz Hurling League at Semple Stadium on Sunday last. Tipperary are in fourth position in the table at present but are equal on points with Galway and Cork in second and third positions respectively. The top 3 teams qualify for semi-finals. In the event of a three way tie for a place score difference will determine placings and in the event of a two way tie the result between the two counties involved will determine placings. Tipperary’s next game is against Dublin next Saturday evening next March 24 at Croke Park at 5pm. It will be followed at 7.15pm by the Allianz Football League game between Donegal and Dublin with inter-match entertainment provided by The Dubliners who are celebrating their golden jubilee this year. The Tipperary v Dublin league game will be the 29th between the counties with Tipperary having won 17, Dublin 8 and 3 draws. Dublin won last year’s encounter at Croke Park by 1-16 to 1-15 on their way to winning the Allianz Hurling League title for 2011.

Congratulations to Nenagh CBS on their great victory over holders St. Kieran’s College, Kilkenny by 0-17 to 0-14 in the All-Ireland Colleges A hurling semi-final at The Ragg on St. Patrick’s Day. They will play Kilkenny CBS in the final at Semple Stadium on SaturdayMarch 31 at a time to be announced. Kilkenny CBS defeated Portumna Community School in the other semi-final, also at The Ragg by 3-15 to 1-8. Interestingly both Munster and Leinster champions, Colaiste na nDeise (defeated in quarter-final by Kilkenny CBS) and St. Kieran’s respectively, have failed to reach the All-Ireland final. It will be Nenagh CBS’s first ever time in the A final but they have enjoyed previous success at B level against Kilkenny opposition when they defeated Callan CBS in the final.
The All-Ireland Colleges senior A hurling semi-final between Nenagh Vocational School and St. Fergal’s College Rathdowney was abandoned after 20 minutes on St. Patrick’s Day after a deluge of rain made the Templetuohy pitch unplayable.
