SENIOR HURLING CHALLENGE GAMES
From Tipperary GAA Scene by County PRO Ger Ryan

The Tipperary senior hurlers will play Dublin in a challenge game at MacDonagh Park Nenagh on Sunday next January 20 at 2pm. Well done to the senior hurlers on their 1-22 to 1-13 victory over Offaly in last Sunday’s challenge game at Templemore. To read a report on the match go to www.tippsupportersclub.com and the Tipperary team management looked nice and warm in their Tipperary Supporters Club Winter hats at the game!  Thanks are due to the Loughmore Castleiney, JK Brackens, Emly and Lattin-Cullen clubs and Emly NS and Our Lady’s School Templemore for their hospitality in hosting the team for training sessions and games the last two Sundays. The first competitive outing of the year will be on Sunday January 27 at a Tipperary venue against the winners of the game on Saturday January 19 between Limerick and Mary Immaculate College.

MCGRATH CUP SF QUARTER FINAL

2013 started on a very positive note for the Tipperary senior footballers with an impressive 2-9 to 1-9 victory over Cork in the McGrath Cup quarter final at Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday last. We wish them luck for their semi-final which will be played on Sunday next January 20 against Waterford in Sean Treacy Park, Tipperary Town with a 2pm throw-in. Extra time will be played in the event of a draw. Admission is €10 for adults, €5 for students / OAPs with id and juveniles free. The winners will play Kerry in the final.

REFEREES COURSE

A course for those interested in becoming referees will be held on February 13, 18, 20 and 25 2013 in Sarsfields Centre, Thurles commencing each night at 8pm. It is an important objective of the County’s Strategic Plan and the Referees Committee to recruit new referees. It is important that anybody who intends taking the course is committed to being available to referee games on a regular basis. This is essential both to gain experience and to justify the effort put in to training new referees. Refereeing can be very rewarding and we would encourage every club to ensure they have at least one trained and qualified referee. The form to apply to attend the course is available on the Tipperary GAA website,www.tipperary.gaa.ie. Prospective referees are asked to note that the form must be signed by their Club Secretary and that their club must support their intention to pursue the referees course.
