Tipperary hope to have forward stars Eoin Kelly and Lar Corbett back in contention for starting places against Clare on March 9.

The 2001 and 2010 All-Ireland winners have not featured in Tipp’s opening two Allianz HL Division 1A fixtures because of hamstring injuries. But manager Eamon O’Shea is hoping to have his strongest hand to date available for the visit of the All-Ireland champions to Semple Stadium in under two weeks. Corbett returned to full training last week and while Kelly is slightly behind the Thurles Sarsman in terms of recovery, Tipperary’s assistant manager Michael Ryan indicated the experienced attackers are making steady progress.

“Hopefully after the week’s break, we’ll have a full compliment to choose from,” he said.

“We still have a few niggly injuries and a couple of young fellas we haven’t got to see. Tadhg Gallagher is working away in the background. He had a stress fracture, Mikey Breen the same. Those guys hopefully will be able to join squad training in the next 2-3 weeks but it will be a slower build back up.”

O’Shea is also anxious to hand game time to Loughmore-Castleiney’s Liam McGrath but he damaged a hamstring playing for Waterford IT against Dublin IT in the Fitzgibbon Cup last week.
