BRENDAN Cummins has admitted that the coming weeks will determine what Tipperary are made of following Sunday’s shock Munster SHC semi-final defeat to Limerick.

Goalkeeper Cummins, who made his 72nd championship appearance at the Gaelic Grounds, acknowledged that Limerick “battled that bit harder” en route to a three-point victory.

Cummins reflected: “We came with high hopes. We knew damn well what Limerick were going to do and fair play to them, they battled that bit harder than us and got a deserved win.”

Cummins paid tribute to his opposite number Nickie Quaid, who made brilliant saves from Seamus Callanan and Pa Bourke.

The 38-year-old said: “You need a few breaks along the line and Nickie Quaid is a serious goalie too. He really fulfilled his potential out there.”

For the first time since 2010, Tipp face into the qualifiers and Cummins admitted: “In the coming weeks we’ll see exactly what we’re made of. We’ll put it behind us now but watch the video a few times, as hard as that might be. We’ve got to learn from this and come out fighting.

“At the end of the game, you saw how much it meant to the people of Limerick. But we’ve got to pick ourselves up, and it’s about Tipp from here on. We’ll dust ourselves down and get going again.”
