Tipperary defeated Cork by 2-16 to 1-9 in the Munster Minor Hurling Championship Semi-Final 2nd playoff on Sunday at Semple Stadium Thurles. Cork got off to a good start, leading 0-6 to 1-1 after 15 minutes with scores coming from Rob O’Shea, Killian McIntyre, Darren Sweetnam and Dillon Cahill. Cathal Horan scored an early goal for Tipperary and he added a further goal and two points from play before the interval to help put Tipperary in front by 2-5 to 0-8 at half-time. Tipperary had the wind in the second half and in spite of a Cork goal by Pa O’Callaghan in the 34th minute, Tipperary dominated and but for some good play by Cork goalie Gary Minihane, the gap between the teams could have been wider. Liam McGrath was Tipperary’s top scorer with 9 points from placed balls.
