An Evening for Amanda

5th January, 2019

Dear Cuala Supporter,

The GAA is a unique organisation which brings a deep sense of community and pride to all those involved with it. It extends way beyond the shared joy of victory and pain of defeat on the playing field. One of the remarkable features of the Association is its ability to rally around fellow Gaels in times of personal difficulty and grief.

During 2018, Amanda Stapleton, sister of one of the stalwarts of our senior hurling team, Shane, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. As a result, Amanda has not been able to work for the last number of months and this situation is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. To assist Amanda and her family at this difficult time an Amanda Stapleton Fund has been established for all funds raised from fundraisers, donations etc. To date, the support of members of the GAA has been a major contributor and the family are greatly appreciative of this support.

With Shane being a valued member of our club, we in Cuala are organising a fundraiser in conjunction with Newstalk’s Off the Ball team. “An evening for Amanda” will see an Off the Ball Roadshow being held in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire on Wednesday the 20th of February next. The event will commence at 8pm (doors opening at 7.30pm) with all proceeds going to the Amanda Stapleton Fund. Tickets are €20 each with tables of 10 available for €200.

We would greatly appreciate if you could support this important event. For bookings please email adulthurlingcuala@gmail.com or phone 087 2994820.

We look forward to seeing you on the night.

Yours sincerely,

BARRY O’HALLORAN

Chairman
