Wexford wins Tipperary Supporters Cub All Ireland Under 16 title

Wexford defeated Kilkenny in the Tipperary Supporters Club All Ireland Under 16 hurling final at Semple Stadium on Sunday.  Wexford led by 0-6 to nil after 10 minutes.  Kilkenny’s first score was a goal but Wexford had a goal of their own in the 16th minute and they went in at the break leading by 1-10 to 1-4.  They increased their lead to 11 points midway through the second half.  Kilkenny rallied and reduced the deficit to six points.  It was Wexford that finished strongly and they went on to win their first title on a final score of Wexford 1-19 Kilkenny 2-8.

Waterford staged a remarkable second half comeback to win the Shield final against Tipperary.  Tipp dominated the first half and led by 1-9 to 0-4 at the interval.  They had the first score of the second half to increase their lead to 9 points.  Waterford  fought back and by the end of the third quarter the sides were level (1-13 to 3-7).  Waterford took the lead for the first time in the 46th minute and they went on to win impressively by 3-14 to 1-16.  Waterford outscored Tipp by 3-10 to 0-7 in the second half.
