Tipperary -v- Clare

With two wins from as many games the table makes good reading for Tipperary at the moment, but manager Liam Sheedy will be looking for a better performance than the one his side produced against Cork under the lights at Semple Stadium.

To be fair to Tipp, though, it was always going to hard to get going against Cork given the circumstances surrounding the Rebels at the moment.

The Premier County have a number of players to come back into the reckoning, including ace marksman Eoin Kelly, who is still only involved in light training as he recovers from a back injury.

Tipp have made eight changes to the team that ran out 12-point winners over Cork, with captain Willie Ryan returning from injury. Seamus Callanan, who made a big impression in last year’s run to the All-Ireland semi-final, Paddy Stapleton and Seamus Hennessy all may get their first league starts of the year.

Clare have yet to pick up any points, with a narrow loss to Limerick followed by a convincing one to Waterford.

The Banner will have the benefit of having centre-back Gerry Quinn and midfielder Brian O’Connell back from injury and travel respectively, and so the spine of Mike McNamara’s side should be significantly stronger.

Tipp are a side used to winning, and that happy habit should continue in Thurles on Sunday.

Verdict: Tipperary
