Tipperary in All-Ireland Under 16 final at 3.30pm Sunday

Tipperary following a 2-15 to 1-12 semi final win over Limerick will meet Galway in final of the Tipperary Supporters Club Under 16 hurling tournament on Sunday in Semple Stadium at 3.30 p.m. (note change of time)

After a long days action at four South Tipperary venues Tipperary and Galway will meet in the final and Clare and Westmeath will contest the Shield final, also in Semple Stadium with a 2.00 p.m. throw-in.

Tipperary defeated Clare in their opening match in Monroe. Tipp raced into a 2-2 to 0-2 lead after ten minutes. Cathal Horan and Pat Ralph were the goal scorers. Clare then came more into the game but Tipp still held a 2-6 to 0-4 half time lead. A disappointing Clare team only scored two points in the second half while Tipp added a further 2-3. Liam McGrath and Patrick Ryan were the goal scorers. Final score Tipperary 4-9 Clare 0-6.

Tipp played Antrim in their second match and in a very one sided game they scored a most convincing win by 4-23 to 0-4.

Tipp played Limerick in the semi final and they dominated the early exchanges with Liam McGrath scoring 1-3 to give them a 1-4 to 0-1 lead by the 10th minute. Limerick replied with four unanswered points to reduce the deficit to two points and a Limerick goal in the 20th minute levelled the match at 1-5 each. Both teams exchanged two further points each to leave the half time score Tipperary 1-7 Limerick 1-7. Tipp started the second half in whirlwind fashion scoring three points in the opening five minutes and when Liam McGrath added a goal Tipp lead by 2-11 to 1-10. Tipp defended very well in the closing stages as Limerick went in search of scores and when the final whistle sounded the scoreboard read Tipperary 2-15 Limerick 1-12.
