Tipperary’s dream of three in a row of Tipperary Supporters Club All Ireland Under 16 hurling titles ended in Nenagh on Saturday following a one point defeat by Offaly. Tipperary scored a comprehensive victory over Antrim in their opening Group 1 match. Their next match against Offaly was a tough encounter with Tipperary holding a 0-6 to 0-3 half time lead. They extended their lead to 0-8 to 0-3 early in the second half but Offaly came back and outscored Tipp by 1-4 to 0-2 to level the match (1-7 to 0-10) with five minutes remaining. Both teams exchanged points before Offaly pointed a long range free in injury time to snatch victory. Final score Offaly 1-9 Tipperary 0-11.

Tipperary by finishing second in their group qualfied for a Shield semi final clash with Galway in Portroe. After a slow start Tipp got into their stride and led by 3-5 to 1-2 at the interval. They pulled away from Galway in the second half to win by 4-15 to 4-3 and set up a Shield final against Waterford in Semple Stadium on Sunday (11.00 a.m.)

The cup final on Sunday will be between Leinster rivals Kilkenny and Wexford. Kilkenny defeated Cork after extra time in the semi final while Wexford left it late to defeat Offaly by two points in the other semi final. The final on Sunday in Semple Stadium has a 12.30 p.m. throw in.

Wexford 1-14 Offaly 2-9;Kilkenny 3-13 Cork 1-17 (after extra time).

Shield Semi Finals
Tipperary 4-15 Galway 4-3; Waterford 1-15 Clare 2-10.
