Spike Nolan RIP

 

Nickey Brennan, President of the GAA, led the tributes to Michael

"Spike" Nolan, Treasurer of the Tipperary County Board, who died

yesterday after a long illness. Mr. Brennan said that "Spike" Nolan was

one of the GAA’s greatest servants and a cornerstone of the Association

in Tipperary for decades". He said "Spike was the manifestation of

selfless commitment, of service to his community, Club and County and of

dedication to the ethos and ideals of the GAA".

 

Mr. Brennan extended condolences to the Nolan family and the GAA in

Tipperary. From the Moneygall Club, Mr. Nolan won Munster and All

Ireland Under 21 hurling medals with Tipperary in 1967 and represented

his County in all grades in both hurling and football. He was also a

referee and administrator over many years at Club and County level.
