Kilkenny youngster TJ Reid is expected to shake off a hand injury in time to make the All-Ireland U-21 hurling final against Tipperary on Sunday.

The roaming forward damaged his hand when playing in the senior final as he helped Brian Cody’s men clinch their third title in a row.

Despite fears that he might miss the U-21 encounter, it has now been revealed that manager Michael Walsh is confident of having him in the squad.

"I spoke to TJ after the game on Sunday and at the time his hand was swollen," said Walsh.

"It’s a worry but people seem to be happy that his hand is not broken.

"He was able to use and bend his knuckles on Sunday night and we don’t want to be without a player of TJ’s calibre."
