The first round of the GAA All-Ireland Football Championship Qualifiers threw up some mouth-watering clashes, with the all-Ulster tie between Monaghan and Derry perhaps the pick of the bunch.
Louth will also get the chance to avenge their 2006 replay defeat to
Ulster giants Tyrone, while Donegal v Roscommon and Limerick v Meath
also have the makings of intriguing encounters.
In the Tommy Murphy Cup quarter-finals, holders Wicklow will host
Waterford, while 2007 Connacht champions Sligo face either Kilkenny or
London.
Meanwhile, in round two of the GAA All-Ireland Hurling Championship
Qualifiers, the draw was not kind to underdogs Laois and Antrim, who
face daunting trips to Galway and Waterford.
In the third round draw, which was also made at Croke Park today by GAA
President Nickey Brennan, Cork will enjoy home advantage over Dublin,
while Limerick will host Offaly.
