The 2009 Munster Senior Hurling Final will be in Thurles regardless of which teams contest it. Munster Council last week confirmed the fixture following agreement being reached with all the counties concerned. Tipperary County Board requested that the final be played in Semple Stadium in recognition of the historic founding of the GAA 125 years ago in Hayes Hotel. It is fitting that, following the honour of hosting the Centenary All Ireland in 1984, the Munster final will be part of the county and provincial celebrations this year. A special committee has been set up to plan the events around the weekend of July 12th but if anyone has any idea that they feel should be part of the weekend please contact the County Secretary, Tim Floyd, at Lar na Pairce Thurles, or by email at  or by phone on 0504 22702.
