The Munster Under 16 inter divisional hurling blitz was held on Saturday. Mid Tipperary, North Tipperary and West Tipperary qualified for the semi finals. Both Mid Tipperary and North Tipperary qualified for the ‘A semi finals on score difference. Mid Tipperary who lost their opening match by three points to Imokilly at Dr. Morris Park, Thurles went on to score a fifteen point win over Mid Clare in their second match. They had to pull out all the stops in their last game against East Waterford and after an epic tussle they came out on top by seven points to qualify for the Munster semi final.

The holders, North Tipperary were in action in Rathkeale and like Mid Tipperary they won two out of their three matches. They had a one point win over City/West Limerick in their first match and followed this with a very convincing win over Avondhu in their second match. They were defeated by East Clare by five points in their third match.  South Tipperary also played in the ‘A’ section but they were defeated in their three matches at St. Finbarrs, Cork. They went down narrowly to South/East Limerick ‘A’ in their first game and they were defeated by Seandun and West Waterford in their other games.   West Tipperary went through their games unbeaten in the ‘B’ section in Cahir to qualify for the semi final. They scored wins over South/East Limerick ‘B’ (five points), Carrigdhoun (seven points) and Muskerry (twelve points).

The semi finals and finals are scheduled for this Saturday. The ‘A’ section may not be played as Mid Tipperary have a number of players on the Thurles C.B.S. panel that contest the All Ireland Colleges final on Easter Monday. Check County Bord na nÓg website at for details.
