INTER-FIRMS GAA

Hard luck to the Tipperary Garda / Teachers combination who were defeated by Cork Garda on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-13 in the Munster Inter-Firms Senior Hurling Final. The game was played in Mallow under lights on Thursday November 27th. The Cork Garda team was captained by Liam O’Connor (Fr Sheehys) and also included Paul Shanahan (Sean Treacys) and Brian Maher (Boherlahan-Dualla). Among the best players for the Tipperary Garda / Teachers combination were Brendan Maher (Borris-Ileigh), Damien O’Brien (Eire Og Annacarty) and Seanie Ryan (Cappawhite). This concludes the involvement of Tipperary inter-firms teams in the competitions this year. Thanks to the Tipperary Garda / Teachers and to Abbott Laboratory’s / Boston Scientific (Clonmel) for their representation of Tipperary this year.

Meanwhile, Analog (Limerick) defeated UCC (Cork) by 3-14 to 2-5 in the recent Munster Inter-Firms Junior Hurling Final. Analog were subsequently defeated by Banagher Concrete by 0-15 to 1-11 in the All-Ireland semi-final. There were five Tipperary natives on the Analog panel, namely Christy Koyce (Newport), Aidan Dwyer (Borris-Ileigh), Eoin Bonfield (Newport), Tommy Kelly (Ballinahinch) and Mike Browne (Borris-Ileigh).

Limerick Garda won the Munster Inter-Firms Junior Football Final recently and will contest the All-Ireland Final next weekend. The Tipperary players involved are as follows – David Boland (Silvermines), Conor O’Brien (Eire Og Annacarty), Niall Fitzgerald (Moyle Rovers / Monaleen) and Kevin Mulryan (JK Brackens) while David Hennessy (Aherlow) is the team trainer.
