Hefty fines for Galway and Tipp by Michael Ellard and Paddy Hickey 

GALWAY and Tipperary have been each fined €5,000 following their ill-tempered NHL tie on April 5. The hefty punishment was imposed after players brawled along the sideline late in the first half of the Pearse Stadium clash. GAA disciplinary chiefs also imposed four week bans on Galway wing-forward Andy Smith and Tipperary midfielder Shane McGrath, neither of whom were censured by referee Barry Kelly The only players admonished by Westmeath official Kelly were Galway midfielder Eoin Lynch and Tipperary full-back Paul Curran, who both received yellow cards and under the experimental rules had to be replaced.
