GAA History Project

The official launch of the GAA History Project will take place on Wednesday, November 12th at 11am in Croke Park.

In September 2008, a four year research project began which will trace the history of the GAA through the memories of its members. It is a partnership between the GAA and Boston College, it’s basic aim is to run a community based public history project, to celebrate 125 years of the GAA by collecting, preserving and embracing the communal past of the Association. The facilitators will engage with local clubs and members to consider the ways in which the GAA, has influenced their lives.

This project will be the biggest public history of its kind ever undertaken in Ireland and it is a major commitment by the GAA to record its past and pave the way for the future
