Corbett eyes Premier advancement

Tipperary are already emerging as a team to be reckoned with in both the league and championship in 2008 and one of their most prolific marksmen, Lar Corbett, will be keeping a close eye on Cork and Waterford’s play-off on Sunday.

Waterford beat the men from the Premier County in the 2007 NHL quarter-final by a solitary point before going on to claim the NHL crown in Thurles against Kilkenny and the Thurles Sarsfields clubman is determined to go one step further in the league this year.

"We were well behind at half-time against Waterford but we battled back well in the second half and we were very disappointed not to get the draw out of the game. So hopefully, we will get past the quarters on this occasion," Corbett told the Irish Sun.

Corbett scored 3-2 last Sunday against Damien Fox’s Laois and while he admits that the result and the Munstermen’s overall team performance was the most important thing he was nonetheless delighted to score a hat-trick.

"It was probably my highest scoring total for the Tipperary senior side but the rest of the forwards deserve huge credit for the amount of work they did in the build-up to the scores that I got."
