BRILLIANT DAY AT TIPP FM GAA MASTERCLASS

BRILLIANT DAY AT TIPP FM GAA MASTERCLASS

It’s every school child’s dream to rub shoulders with their sporting heroes. That dream became a reality for fifty Tipperary schoolchildren on Saturday last as courtesy of Tipp FM and the Tipperary GAA County Board, the Tipp FM GAA Masterclass took place. The Masterclass initiative involved coaching in football and hurling by inter-county stars for three hours in the splendid setting of Semple Stadium on a beautiful sunny day. Over 3,000 children entered this competition and just fifty aged between 10 and 14 were picked at random as part of the successful Tipp FM GAA Preview show. Hurling stars such as Eoin Kelly, Shane McGrath, Noel McGrath, Gerry Kennedy and Declan Fanning were joined by Footballers Declan Browne, Paul Fitzgerald and Damian O’Brien to put the children through their paces with some excellent coaching and some tips for the future. At the end of each coaching session, the children took part in games of hurling and football and all the coaches commented on the high standard of play witnessed during the day. Thanks to Ian O’Connor from Tipp FM and County Bord na nOg PRO John Smith who were the main organisers of this event.  Sinéad Kenrick from Moyle Rovers won her place in the Masterclass as a Junior Member of the Tipperary Supporters Club.  Thanks to Tipp FM for making that prize available and for also inviting this year’s Tipperary Supporters Club Mascots, John O’Connor from Portroe and Colm Hayde of Rosegreen.  Photos of the day can be viewed on www.tipperaryphotos.com .
