The 2009 National Hurling and Football Leagues will begin in early February. The fixtures will be announced in the coming weeks with the Footballers beginning their campaign in Division 3 on Sunday February 1st while the Hurlers first game is a week later on Sunday February 8th. The Tipperary Footballers will play Cavan, Down, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Offaly and Roscommon in Division 3. The top two teams will gain promotion to Division 2 and will contest the Division 3 Final while the bottom two teams will be relegated to Division 4. The Tipperary hurlers will play Clare, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick and Waterford in a new look Division 1. The top two teams will contest the National Hurling League Division 1 Final. 

The GAA has confirmed that a draft of the National Hurling and Football League fixtures for 2009 put together by the Central Competitions Control Committee was circulated to Counties for their consideration and County Boards were given the opportunity to highlight any difficulties they envisaged with dates and times.

These draft fixtures have appeared in Newspapers over the past week.
The GAA would like to confirm that these fixtures are not finalised and are subject to change. The Fixtures will be circulated when they are finalised by the CCCC and accepted by Central Council.
