Roscommon’s Gerry Fallon claimed the M Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada title on Saturday August 1st, edging out reigning champion, Tipperary goalkeeper Brendan Cummins, by a single poc in testing conditions. Fallon, who was trailing Cummins by two pocs at the last turning point on the 5km mountain course, came home very strongly and claimed the much coveted title. In the pairs event, Fallon and Cummins teamed up and were victorious with 121 pocs. Patricia Jackman from Waterford was a very popular winner of the ladies’ competition, while it was further joy for Roscommon as Noel Fallon claimed the Under-16 title
