ALL IRELAND MINOR HURLING QUARTER FINAL

From Tipperary GAA Scene
Good luck to our minor hurlers who will play beaten Leinster finalists, Wexford, in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise on this Saturday, July 25th at 3pm. Two further games will follow – Wexford v Clare in the senior hurling relegation Round 1 at 5pm and Kildare v Wicklow in the senior football qualifiers Round 4 at 7pm so there will be plenty of action for supporters who travel to Portlaoise. Tipperary and Wexford have only met on 3 previous occasions in the minor hurling championship. Their first encounter was in the 1980 minor All-Ireland final which Tipp won by 2-15 to 1-10. They did not meet again until the All-Ireland semi-final of 1999 which Tipp won by 3-13 to 1-8 with current minor coach Damien Young playing in goals. Their most recent meeting was in the 2002 semi-final which again was won by Tipperary on a scoreline of 4-13 to 0-13.

The winners of Saturday’s Semi Final will play Kilkenny in the Semi-Final.
